IP Board Exam Attempts & Fee's
Exam attempts:
- The candidate can have 3 consecutive exam attempts.
- If candidate fails all three attempts, candidate will need to take 1 year off and re-apply again. If new application is accepted, the cycle repeats itself with an additional 3 attempts.
- Since BEARC’s policy states that applicants have to be within 7 years from IP fellowship graduation to sit for the IP board exam, each applicant has a maximum 6 attempts (provided they follow the schedule and do not skip a year and surpass their7-year deadline post fellowship graduation).
Exam Fee:
- The exam fee and application fee are combined as a single fee.
- The current initial exam and application fee is:$1,900.00
- All exam fees are reviewed annually and are subject to changed.
- Any proposed changes to the exam and application fees requires approval of the executive committee (EC) and board of directors (BOD).
Re-Take Fee:
- The current retake fee is:$750.00

- Any proposed changes to the re-take exam fees requires approval of the executive committee (EC) and board of directors (BOD).
Refund Policy:
- If the applicant chooses to withdraw their application, they will have 1 week from the date of application submission to notify BEARC in order to qualify for a full refund, after which a penalty will apply to account for administrative costs.
- If the withdrawal is requested before the application is marked as complete, the penalty of $150.00 will apply.
- If the withdrawal is requested after the application is marked as complete, refunds will be processed as per the policy outlined below or the applicant may choose to apply the full amount towards the next year’s application plus any additional costs if applicable.
- 85% of the exam fee will be refunded if cancellation is received on or before 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the application completion deadline.
- 50% of the exam fee will be refunded when cancellation is received between 12:00 midnight Eastern Time on the day after the application completion deadline and 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the day prior to the exam.
- All documentation must be received prior to the application submission deadline. Failure to provide all documentation will lead to forfeiture of the application fee.
- If the application is rejected after completion of the review, the fees will be refunded.
