The American Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology is pleased to announce the winner of the 1st AABIP Research Award: Dr. Lonny Yarmus of Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Dr. Yarmus is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care Medicine and Sleep at Johns Hopkins. He completed his Interventional Pulmonology fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital where he now serves as the program director of the interventional Pulmonology fellowship program. His research proposal, “Airway Stenosis after Undergoing Lung Transplantation,” focuses on elucidating the etiology of post‐lung transplant anastomotic complications. Although the Research Committee of the AABIP received several promising research proposals, we could only support one award recipient at this time.  In the future, we hope to able to provide Research Awards to our top two submissions.
