It is with great pleasure that we invite you to attend and participate in our AABIP Fall Scientific Symposium 2016 to be held Saturday October 22nd 2016 from 6:30 PM to 10:00, at The LINE Hotel, Wilshire and Normandie, 3515 Wilshire Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90010.
This symposium is designed to be a relaxed exchange of scientific ideas related to the practice of interventional pulmonology. All individuals with an interest are invited to attend and participate.
The primary objective of this symposium is to encourage young IP investigators to present early project ideas with the goal to foster scientific discussion with active audience participation and advice/input from more seasoned IP scientists and researchers. To re-capture this objective, the AABIP research committee encourages IP fellows and junior faculty to submit proposals for a clinical trial or investigation based on currently unmet data to guide evidence-based IP practice. Fewer presentations will be selected this year in order to optimize discussion time, which will be moderated by the symposium chair. There will be 3 to 4 proposal presentations. We are inviting anyone with a scientific proposal or idea to share and to present his/her proposal with a brief background followed by the clinical trial design. Each presentation should be approximately 10-12 minutes in length, relaxed, collegial, no more than 5 to 7 slides, and designed to stimulate thoughts, ideas, and feedback from the audience. To stimulate the discussion, the participant should conclude their presentation with poignant questions to promote discussion. We welcome and encourage a broad spectrum of research interests from basic science to clinical research. The emphasis will be for the audience and presenter to learn from each other, and hopefully offer guidance and potential collaboration. Descriptive, case studies/series, procedural prowess proposals will not be accepted. In addition, clinical trial projects in progress will not be accepted as these projects are within the purview of the primary meeting, not this scientific symposium. No CME will be offered.
An award will be presented at the end of the evening for the overall best presentation of novel and interesting research proposal by a junior investigator.
You should dress appropriate to the weather in Los Angeles. Ties and suits are not expected.
Food and beverages will be available.
Registration is required for entry. Your email confirmation will serve as your ticket.
If you would like to present your proposal, please indicate so during registration. Also indicate if you are a new or young investigator. To qualify as a new or young investigator you must be an attending within 5 years of completing fellowship, a fellow, resident, or student. The deadline for abstract submission is September 30, 2016 11:59 PM Eastern.
The AABIP is committed to foster research collaborations and to support young investigators. As such, funding for the symposium has been provided by the AABIP. We would like to continue this practice of having a no cost registration to attendees for as long as possible, but ask that you consider a donation to support this symposium. Any amount you can afford will be most appreciated.
